Picks of the Week on the blogosphere | 080301 issue

picksoftheweek_blog080301

My choice this week from my fellow bloggers features a mix of stylish comfort food and modern architecture masterpieces.

While I make my weekly selection, I pay attention to find a harmony between the pictures in top of presenting you a great source of information on stylish living.

This week, my picks give some clues on color trends. Think orange, bright blues and greens for a cool factor. Also, you can reflect on how to integrate more circular shapes for food presentation.

My 4 picks of the week

The Kitchn for How to Boil an Egg: Eiko Egg Boilers from Vessel

I got the impression that some AT readers miss the point. This is to make soft-boiled eggs. If you like gadgets, you will love this new product from Vessel that can be used to eat the egg once it is half cooked. I do like the colorful aspect that Eiko will bring to my table.

The Art of Refined Repetitions | Design Lesson

my valentine's day tulips and design rules

As I was assembling my photo board of my Valentine’s Day private event, it became clear that this board illustrates a fundamental design principle.

My regular readers probably know by now that I strive for mixing and matching. I prefer subtle themes.

One of the easiest tricks to achieve cohesion is to repeat the same elements applied on a different way. The repeating elements should be naturally integrated into your design to be successful. In short, it should not be obvious.

I will move back and forth between how I celebrated Valentine’s Day and my design lesson.

The Story behind My Bouquet

I have to thank my caring husband for giving me this modish bouquet. I am sure that the bouquet had my name written all over me because it is so much my style. My husband had several meetings yesterday so he stopped by my favorite florist at the end of the day.

Chic plating and modern tabletop designs by Match Event Venue

plating and tabletops by Match Restaurant & Event Venue

Upbeat gourmet Chef Domenic Chiaromonte of Match Restaurant & Event Venue used an adorable dishing technique for serving a pasta dish.

Sometimes, a set of stylized bowls is all you need to simulate a Chef creation. Stay tuned as I will tell where to find similar bowls in my next post. The bowl elevates a pasta recipe which proves that you do not need to be a Chef to impress your guests.

If your cooking experience is limited, concentrate on food presentation when you are entertaining. The only thing that you need to remember is that a host should only serve successfully cooked recipes. So plan to prepare what you are good at.

Modern Orange Table designs

It takes no time to set up the modern orange table. Still this table looks refined. The key for this no-fuss tabletop design is to have on hand the right style of tableware. The table linens were replaced by shiny Lucite sheets to fashion a trendier atmosphere.

Social Design :: Seven Spoons :: The Kitchen Apartment Therapy

Technically the first post is from last week but since I discovered the chic orange tone marriage this week, it made this week blogosphere compilation.

Social Design for Love it so much!!

This post showcased a real wedding. What you see in Love it so much!! is amazing in every way. There are a lot of details done in a clean design. It shows that you do not need to pack your décor to make it amazing and substantial.

You get inspired by the daring use of an orange drape for the ceremony, the retro look of the birdcage veil with a starlet nightgown wedding dress up to the modern square table settings. This wedding was featured on Social Design blog, the brain-child of Lyndsi Joy and Amanda Domergue, two young event designers and coordinators from Philadelphia.
