I am very thrilled by this new housewares collection made of reclaimed wood. It made me regret that I was not at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) in NYC last week.
More than just a pretty face, the culture of Domestic Aesthetic revolves around sustainability. They use responsibly harvested materials and low impact processes. Naturally, their production methods eliminate hazardous chemicals so you and your family can feel better eating and cooking with their products.
Domestic Aesthetic aims to produce well-designed, affordable eco-friendly housewares. I feel that they deliver on their "Live well, Live right" motto. Nike Foley designed pieces that appeal to the senses of both men and women.
The Certified Salad Bowl Set comes with porcelain edged plates instead of the typical salad bowls. I like the usual shape of the large serving bowl. It harmonizes with the Certified Salt and Pepper Shakers.

If you dream of setting a natural retreat in your urban backyard this summer, you might be interested by these brown and white Resin Tree Pots that I dug at Sprout Home.
These planters can be flipped over and used as an end table. To increase their longevity, use them as a cachepot. Put some moss or wood barks on top to complement the natural look. Each Resin Tree Pot is 15 inches tall and 13 inches wide.
Sprout Home sells them online or you can visit their store in Chicago and in Brooklyn.

For the last days before Christmas, there is still time for one or two last minute inspirations.
I made a simple vignette to decorate the mantle in our playroom at the cottage.
My inspiration was my birch cachepots from small stump. Mason jars served as vases. I selected holly branches because they are resilient and I need a flower arrangement that will still look good for a few days.
A silver tree with a 3D patterned stump base completes the scheme along with a deer from Ikea.

Since a stylish dining room pendant is a must for entertaining, it is best to take the time to find the right lighting fixture to finish up a room design. For the dramatic effect you are after, have a look at the impressive collection from Propellor Design.
And if you wish to be kind to the planet, the new releases from this talented design studio located in Vancouver, BC combine beauty, originality and sustainability.
Caluino
Open spaces called for the need of harmonizing fixtures. Sometimes, you wish a unified look. And you bring variations through dimensions and shapes.
To tailor your lights to the space, mix the Caluino chandelier, a grouping of seven bamboo pendants with a walnut oil finish with any of the Furrow pendants (sedin, parkade or traverse). Repeat as needed.

Today, my eco-chic party column plays on a large interpretation of green living. It is about simple old-fashioned pleasures and the wildlife appeal.
There is a debate going on to determine what is more eco-friendly between an artificial Christmas and a real one? But really if you are short on space, the solution is simpler. You simply forgo the big tree.
Pinecone trees, homemade fabric trees, glass trees and twigs on vases are just the tips of the iceberg. Decorative tree alternatives emerge every day to fit any taste and style. I have always been a fan of the legendary Swedish Holiday Herd so I am pleased that their selection is growing.

We are right in the middle of the hunting season. In the Canada and the North of the United States, the colorful sceneries in fall mean that going to the cottage is popular.
Black forest Decor is not a store where I would normally go for shopping. But I discovered there wonderful tableware. It is the proof that we must keep an open mind when it comes to design.
Out of traditional cottage style pieces, I devised a modern Country table top. This type of tableware would look remarkable in a contemporary or a modern Country cottage design because it is unexpected.
The elements of my table top
Whether you prefer the Moose Lodge Collection or the Silhouette Black Bear Dinnerware Set is opt to you. I kind of prefer the Moose Lodge for its warmth but it is hard to judge simply from a picture. Mixing a Stag Horn pewter pitcher and a pewter fruit platter on pedestal elevate the look to higher grounds. The Antler handle flatware set repeats the look of the pitcher through the use of similar finishes. That is how you bring continuity to a design.

The color palettes are usually more subdued during the Fall season. But if you are looking for more festive centerpieces, I invite you to take a look at these two centerpieces. I spot them when reading Room Service this afternoon.
Some clues on how to do these centerpieces
One trick of the trade is to fill the center with a filler materiel since they do not show. Use cheap coffee beans to cover the visible angles. You do not have to wait for the Holidays season to decorate with Christmas tree balls. Just use 2-3 balls with containers of this surface.
For the barn wood box arrangement, visit online Better Homes and Gardens to read the instructions.

This week I made two boards. The first one celebrates autumn at the cottage. It reminds me of the spectacular views delivered by the Canadian forests at this time of the year.
1 | Hostess with the Mostess for New stuff at Zanisa
These natural slate boards available at Zanisa become markers. Little wooden pegs let them stand vertically or horizontally. Use a chalk to identify dishes at a buffet or use them as nameplates at your table. Pretty cool accessories for the party celebrating the end of the cottage season. These markers are from the new collection at Zanisa featured by Hostess with the Mostess this week.
2 | Shelterrific for on the table: flowers, fabric and more
I am a proud owner of similar birch tubes from Small Stump. Naturally, I am a fan. The On the table: flowers, fabric and more post displayed them all dressed up with a ribbon next to a wooden birdhouse as a table marker.

This post touches on the story of a beautiful love affair. It has joy and happiness written all over it.
I was thrilled to get my hands on a chic outdoor party theme for grownups. The fact that is easy to reproduce in a classical style garden makes the board even better. And there was orange, my favorite color; I could not resist.
The Casual but Ultra Chic, Budget Friendly Affair inspiration board created by Blythe displays many design elements I enjoyed.
The appetizers on stick garden are something to keep in mind. The L-shaped booth with the vibrant fabric shaded roof feel so festive that not much decorative elements are necessary.
About my alterations
Last week, I came across some wedding pictures taken by photographer Michèle M. Waite for Molly and Brandon’s wedding in Bellingham. The plating of the food served at the rehearsal dinner is a feast for the eyes. I had to show these pictures to you. Blythe’s inspiration board was the perfect occasion.
