Latest Napkins and Plates by Skinnylaminx | Etsy Watch

table linen by skinnylaminx on etsy :: napkins tea towels plates

Brighten your kitchen with a dash of yellow. You can start with a few accessories.

You can grab and nicely display the napkins and tea towels by Heather Moore of Skinnylaminx. This illustrator and designer from Cape Town, South Africa, makes beautiful table linens. Her gray and yellow look sophisticated when put together. The mix feels soft.

For a twist, use her 13.5 x 13.5 inch napkins as placemats for a dessert course or a simple breakfast. The plant and flower yellow pattern is printed on 100% cotton hopsack using water-based ink.

Heather owned cool plates and mugs. I would like to find similar, so keep me inform if you know a source in Canada or the USA.

The plates may lead to a new venture. Heather decorated these plates for the South Africa House! exhibit. She transferred 3 of her design on ceramic dinnerware. Each place setting is different and devised from one color palette. Check the rest on her collection on her blog. The patterns are all superb.

Entertaining illustrations by Paolo Mariotti

paolo mariotti party illustrations

If you can read French, I suggest you take a peek at IDEAT, a magazine about design, architecture and trends made in France. It is one of my favorite magazines.

Paolo Mariotto has a column in IDEAT. Every month, he draws an illustration. He captures the spirit of a trend from somewhere around the globe. In fact, Paolo’s Touch is the first thing I explored when I grabbed my latest issue.

Paolo Mariotto is an illustrator and correspondent for the Brazilian Vogue in Paris, amongst other things.

I wish looking at his drawings will inspire you to host a cocktail or a dinner party this week-end. In the meantime, enjoy the views.

Modern chic greeting cards by Nila Aye for Beaumonde

chic and modern greeting cards designed by nila aye for beaumonde

Yesterday was my husband’s birthday. When we visited Toronto last week, I found this stylishly hip greeting card collection in a shop on Queen Street.

The minute I saw the romantic couple on the rug I knew I have to give it to his birthday. Just to prove how much I like it, I already bought him a cool couple greeting card the week before. Chut! (This is an exclamation in French that in this case refer to the fact that I said too much and I should keep it a secret).

Going back to the work of Nila Aye, her blank card collection for Beaumonde addresses over a dozen of occasions. The look spins around a fashionable and fun party mood. These cards are designed with the urban crowd in mind.

Nila Aye created nice illustrations that celebrate a Happy birthday, a new born, a new home, an engagement or a wedding. The Get Well Soon, Good Luck and Congratulations models are amazing.

This week edition is a split between retro style and home decor. After a few iterations, I think I have finally found the right name for my Friday’s column. My goal after all with this weekly column is to showcase 3 to 4 posts from bloggers.

Featured blogs

Letterpress coasters are popping every day. I discovered these via retro chic at hello! Lucky published on Hostess with the Mostess. Stock up the Hostess with the Most Coasters as they make original hostess gifts. A Set of 8 assorted coasters is sold for $10 USD.
