The New Modern Danish Ceramic Collection of Kähler Design

fiducia : marmitta : cammeo : pura : bulbo by kahler design

I want to fill my kitchen with the Kähler ceramic. Their unique shapes of their modern designs and the remarkable craftsmanship make the ceramic by Kähler second to none.

Founded by Herman Kähler, this Danish company started designing and producing handmade ceramic pieces in 1839. Today, they still pursue the same level of excellence and innovation that made their success.

Each individual ceramic piece bearing the name Kähler has been shaped in skilled hands from a technique passed down from one generation to the next.

Their current team of innovative designers is all issued from Danish design schools. These ceramic pieces are more than a pretty face, how well they function testifies of the level of thinking that goes into creating these products.

Unique modern centerpiece

Wonderful as a dinner table centerpiece, FIDUCIA is a set of candlesticks and flower vases linked by strong magnets. You can separate the pieces at will. Let you creativity flow and arrange them in a snakelike line, make small clusters or pair them.

Ceramic Memo Pad

ceramic memo pad at see jane work

Often while you are at the phone, you need to write something just for a while. And you throw the paper after. Why not use something that can save a tree?

That is the premise behind this Ceramic Memo Pad. You simply write your message with a basic dry-erase marker. Once done, wipe the board clean and you have a clean slate.

I know that it would not help you with your grocery shopping. But you can use this Ceramic Memo Pad as a tiny communication board for members of a household.

I like the fact that it has a non intrusive design so people visiting will not notice it. Better yet, your space stay clean since you would not get papers pilling up because you forgot to throw them away.

The Ceramic Memo Pad makes a neat housewarming gift. Show up at the door with a couple of pads nicely wrapped. Unfortunately you have to wait before making your friends jealous because See Jane Work is currently out of stock.

Swedish design tableware with Höganäs Keramik

modern scandinavian tableware by Hoganas Keramik

This tableware collection integrates the lessons of modern Scandinavian design. Simple beautiful lines modulate into perfect functionality.

Making life at the dining table more beautiful, more pleasant and more practical resumes the philosophy behind Höganäs Keramik since 1909. They are not afraid to mandate open minded Scandinavian designers and it shows.

Like the little black dress, this product series is versatile. Plates and bowls are offered in a variety of shapes from round, square and triangular The possibilities do not stop with shapes since everything is available in ten colored glazes.

Lots of options in colors and in shapes

With no many options, you can personalize your table settings at will for all occasions. Savor your breakfast, use the Pick Up tray for a quick coffee and sandwich at lunch and then serve the dinner at the table while never feeling like you use the same set.

Handmade porcelain collection of Mud Australia

porcelain tableware by mud australia

Since I started this blog, my desires to collect porcelain dishes keep growing. And Mud Australia does everything for stimulating my desire with a wide array of colors, shapes, formats and an handmade feeling.

If you are on the market for everyday porcelain dinnerware that you can dress up for a friendly dinner, look no further than this collection by Mud Australia.

Handmade by ceramists using the best materials available, you see how amazing they can look on your table. In fact, your table is almost self-decorated if you cleverly mix colors.

Mud Australia ceramics are available in Australia, a few stores in Canada, in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, New Zealand, Hong Kong, the United States, Singapore and the United Kingdom.

More to come from a local ceramicist

As you may recalled, I bought a few handmade dishes by Ceramik B, a Montreal ceramicist before Christmas when visiting the Souk @ SAT. I could not resist. Her pieces share the same idea: a handmade glazed inside, stone-like outside finish but the treatment is poles apart. I promise to show you my new acquisitions in the upcoming weeks. I am looking for the ideal menu to showcase the pieces.

Juvenile tones: 3 blogs and a mood board - 2007.11.05 edition

apartment therapy the nursery : Oh joy : Design boner

A sense of innocence characterizes this week board. Even if I qualified the color palette as juvenile, these objects are really cute. They have a certain "je ne sais quoi".

1 | Apartment Therapy : The Nursery

The mix and match melamine Taylor Sectional Trays from Pottery Barn Kids reminds me of the 70s TV dinners that we saw on TV. My mother never served us these fake meals. But the idea of compartment trays is fun. They would be a hit at a kid birthday.

Janie from Apartment Therapy : The Nursery confessed that there are appreciate by adults as well. Right now, they are on sale at half-price if we forgot the 99 cents difference.

Curve appeal with a Handful of Plates by Alissia Melka Teichroew

handful of plates by Alissia Melka Teichroew AMT

Almost two weeks ago, I introduced the wine and dine plates which enable you to carry with your wine glass inside your plate. I found something more fun and exclusive.

I spoke about the importance of having a decent plate rim. Dutch-born designer Alissia Melka Teichroew (AMT) came up with a neat solution with her Handful of Plates. Alissia explained her concept in these words:

Ever been in the middle of a great conversation at a party when you suddenly realize that your canapés have rolled off the flimsy paper plate you’re holding? AMT has a solution: pre-folded, natural-colored ceramic plates that are easy to hold and keep food and utensils in place.

Handful of plates is a trio of plates each with its own level of curved sides. The two higher Taco shell folds were designed for eating. The lesser curved plate can be used for serving food and eating.

Double duty serving ware by Willem Noyons

Cucumber, melon and Tomato dish by Willem Noyons

Original and clever serving dishes make a last impression when you are entertaining.

Cucumber, melon and Tomato dish series designed by Willem Noyons clearly qualifies as distinctive pieces. Let’s examine the versatility of the tomato dish.

The pictures tell the story. The cover preserves the freshness of the cut vegetables or it becomes as a serving bowl. The possibilities are endless. For once, someone taught about an integrated pick holder.

The cucumber dish stacks two dipping bowls that can be separated. Whole honeydew melons and cantaloupes stand tall at the center of the melon dish. But do not be fool by these names; you can serve whatever you want in these neat plates.

Not your typical candle holder

Often called Fruit & Fire, Candle Dish really extends the limit of imagination. Candle Dish is a candelabrum that becomes a fruit bowl when you flip it over. Often we do not know what to do with our candle holder when not in use. Having no free storage space in your cabinet is not a problem anymore. Just use Candle Dish as a bowl for your citrus fruits, apples, pears and more.
